The Olive Grove is situated very centrally near the church, 2 mins walk from the square and beach but secluded enough to be in a calm and peaceful location.
You can take relaxing strolles through the old villages of Pano Horio, Kato Horio and Mavrikiano and see the amazing scenery also there are boat trips daily to Spinalonga . This is an island just of the coast of Plaka which was once a Venetian Fortress and later a leper colony. Most recently it's the setting for the best seller The Island. Elounda is a recognised archaelogical sight. Across the causeway past salt flats where salt was collected and exported about 40 years ago: visitors can admire relics of the sunken city of Olous and the Dolfin mosaic near the Canal Bar.
